Working in the Palace Hub

Working in the Palace Hub

It's been ages since my last blog post!

You may not know, but Oakapple Haberdashery is just me! This is great because it means everything is done how I like it, I can run my business in a way I like, and I can take a day off when I need to.

It also means that no-one else does the work if I don't. If you follow my social media, you might know that I sadly lost my Mum a couple of months ago. If you've visited me at Malvern or Uttoxeter shows, you probably saw my Mum too. I took time to spend with my Mum and then obviously afterwards I wasn't working at full pelt.

I am still in the Palace Hub in Redcar, but now I have moved to a bigger room on the 3rd floor as I outgrew my podroom space. I love it here - there is space for me to work, and plenty of room for my shelves of fabric and all my other bits and bobs. It's much easier for customers to visit me too, although I don't have regular opening hours as I visit various quilt shows around the country throughout the year.

Last summer I invested in a little van. I was spending so much money on van hire that when the time came to replace my trusty old Renault I decided on a van. I wanted one small enough to be my car but big enough to carry everything I need for the quilt shows. I had to trek over to Cumbria to find this one - it's Fiat Doblo Maxi Cargo! His name is Dario Doblo - I named him after the warehouse man at Aurifil Thread in Milan as I wanted an Italian name for him!

Look out for us travelling around. I'll also now deliver orders around Redcar and down the coast through to Whitby and possibly a bit further if you ask nicely!!

See you on the next update

Ellie
